Banded Beauty
"Not bad to be small."
In the wake of a small bird wave, my eye caught a bright yellow band. I tried to follow it, but lost it temporarily until the yellow reemerged, restless and actively moving in the higher forest canopy. It was very active and small, so I had to wait for it to settle down, determined that I will identify it. And there it was as I have seen it in a book. A little bright band of colour around an ordinary brown plumage makes the Banded Broadbill / Takau Rimba extraordinary and rather uncommon. (More about the bird itself in Notes).
Evergreen forest, Bukit Cahaya Shah Alam 29/12/10, 10:00am.
